About Me

Writing about yourself really isn't easy. My name is Kristie Chavis and I'm 29 years OLD. It's amazing how different I feel at 29. When I first started teaching at 22...it was MUCH easier to get on and off the floor with the kiddos. It's not as easy now...and to think I have quite a few more years left. But it's worth it. I absolutely love my job. It is one of the things in my life that helps me realize I am on the right path intended just for ME. It helps keep me centered. Teaching really is a magical thing. I love seeing how children still believe in magic. It reminds me of how I used to see the world. It takes me back to that place...the magic of childhood. I love it.

I graduated from Armstrong Atlantic State University with my Bachelors degree in Early Childhood Education. I graduated Summa Cum Laude (that happened!). Now I am doing what I love...teaching! I taught my first 2 years in a county that was an hour drive from where I lived (Kindergarten & First Grade). I then transferred to the county I live in teaching Pre-K, but the Pre-K Center was still about 30 min away. It was my ULTIMATE goal to land a teaching job in my hometown of Georgia at the same school I went to as a kid. The following year I transferred to teach Pre-K there. Yay!! I did that for 2 years and finally moved to a first grade teaching position. It's been a crazy ride...

I love all things magical...Harry Potter being one of them! I love summer...not a fan of winter. If I could eat pasta everyday without gaining 100 pounds, I would. My favorite holiday is a tie between Christmas and Halloween. Diet Coke is my jam. I'm kind of a hypochondriac (the first step is admitting it). My motto...better to be safe than sorry! I'm still a major mama's girl and she is my best friend. I am married to my one and only, Michael. We started dating in high school and finally got hitched a little before graduating from college. He's the best daddy in the world to our little girl, Hallie Rae. She is 2 years old and she makes life very interesting! I have one sibling (brother Trey) and I'm the oldest. My favorite thing to do is to just spend time with my family. Eating dinner at home and watching a movie...best.thing.ever.
